A Tale about Love and Trees

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

This very personal piece is finally completed! I wanted to wait a little bit until I posted it on the blog because I made one major change to the piece. But if you have been following me on Facebook, then you might have seen it already in its uncorrected version.

Here is “Enlacés” (which means Entwined) a 11×14 watercolor, colored pencils and acrylics illustration of my feelings for a special someone. I’ve poured a lot of my heart an soul into this one!

For those who might be interested, prints of this illustration are available at my Etsy shop. My own personal website is being seriously revamped, so it won’t be available there for a while.

An Odd Couple for Halloween

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

I started this sketch at a Drink and Draw that I organized a week ago. I honestly didn’t expect much out of it until I finished the characters and felt like I could push this illustration a bit further. After quite a few hours of inking and ink washes, this is the final result!

I’m loving working with ink and ink washes more and more, I admit!

New Black and White Illustrations

I’ve had the chance to go to Krafty Day and to meet for the very first time Kimmie Reid and all her lovely Krafty Girls! While at Krafty Day, I brought all my paints, papers, brushes and decided to do a few doodles! And I wanted to share two of them here on my blog! Each took about 3 hres to do, I think.

The Voodoo Lady

She is now finished! I’m so happy with this one, especially since I’ve worked with colours I am not very comfortable with: yellow and brown.

She looks like she is up to no good! ;)

Some Inked Doodles

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

These two little illustrations are part of a series of tests I have been working on since the beginning of February. But because of the huge load of work I had, I didn’t find any time to post them here. I only managed to share them on Twitter (if ever you have an account, mine is @annierodrigue).

I’ve been revisiting Batty a lot. I would love to create a story with her in it. So the plan was to find a nice technique that would work with the morbid but cute style of the character. Here is what came out of it!

There will be more of these in the following weeks. I have a few piled up already and more to come for sure!

This Year’s New Greeting Card Design

Friday, October 15th, 2010

Every year, I try to come up with at least one new greeting card design for the holidays. I really wanted to do two for 2010, but as it turns out, after 2 failed attempts, this third illustration was the one to make the cut and now I have run out of time to create any new designs.

Hopefully, this one will be charming enough to count as two! :D

She’s got just a dash of fantasy too!

The Little Knitter

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

This new little darling was done as a commission for a store logo! ( I was asked to come up with a little knitting lady design, along with kitty and the big ball of yarn with the moon design in it! I love this job! It was just so much fun and creative!

The Mermaid Sailing a Wave

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

I am now slowly catching up with work, conventions and website updates. So I can finally post this illustration that I finished at the beginning of August! (as it been a month already?) This one was again trick as I had planned to paint it with watercolours, but I completely screwed up (twice!). Then, I decided that I should keep on going with the digital version and turned it into the final version you see her.
But it’s actually a mix of pencil and digital! A first try at this combo!

Ghosts and Chains (part 2)

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Yikes! I have failed to finish this one on friday like I wanted. BUT I did finish it! It was trickier than I though, and I need a nice push to get it done too. Today, I decided I would focus a little more and managed to pull it off! This one wasn’t easy, especially the glow. Until the very end until I put those little extra highlights with the acrylics, I thought I wouldn’t get the look I was hoping for. But it turned out that I did! (I was so relieved too!)

My Heart and Soul

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I don’t think I’ve ever put so much sadness and emotions in a painting before. I’m well aware that it’s cliché, not very elaborate or anything like that. Just needed to let it out.

Sorry for the depressing mood you guys.
